COMMUNITY. CHARACTER. CLIMBING.

Mission Statement: Boulders Climbing Team prioritizes the emotional and physical well-being of our athletes above all other metrics and strives to develop a lifelong healthy enjoyment of climbing, by fostering both casual and competitive participation.

We strive to create a supportive learning environment for all of our team members both in and out of practice. BCT is more than just a team, we are an inclusive community. Athletes are taught how to be competent, self-coached, lifelong climbers through our combination of structured practice, indoor/outdoor climbing events, supplemental initiatives, and competitions.

Our climbing team practices in four program groups: Bedrock, Intermediate, Advanced and Competitive. All team members are welcome to compete in both USA Climbing rope and bouldering seasons, with the Comp Team specifically prioritizing preparation for success in these events.

Additionally, we offer supplementary programming options such as Team Lab, Private Lessons, and Individual Training Plans, for athletes looking to improve above and beyond their normal practice, whether that be for high-level competition or personal progress.

BCT programs roster during two enrollment periods- Fall (August) and Spring (January), with unofficial rostering opportunities for our Summer Off-Season (May).

Bedrock Team

Monday and Thursday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Eastside Location. (Optional Captain’s Practices, Sundays/Time TBD).

Bedrock Team introduces team members to fundamental climbing techniques (edging, resting, etc.) for use in their climbing progression. We strive to teach kids to become responsible, informed climbers.  Bedrock Team gives kids an introduction to techniques that will be used as a foundation for more complicated movement in Intermediate Team and beyond. Climbers will gain confidence in their movement and comfort in utilizing the gym.  By the end of their time with Bedrock Team kids will have the basic building blocks of climbing movement perfected, be able to determine adequately difficult projects for themselves, and be active, competent members of the growing climbing community. Bedrock Team athletes are required to participate in USAC Climbing competitions.

Intermediate Team

Monday and Thursday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Eastside Location. (Optional Captain’s Practices Sundays/time TBD).

Intermediate Team prepares athletes for participation in USAC Climbing Competitions, and further development of their individual climbing practice. We strive to teach kids to become responsible, informed climbers and community members. Climbers will develop soft and hard skills such as belaying, technical movement, and community stewardship.  Intermediate Team athletes are required to participate in Boulders-hosted Climbing competitions (up to 2 per year).

Advanced Team

Tuesday and Friday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. (Optional Captain’s Practices, Sunday/Time TBD)

Advanced Team focuses on building on the foundation of techniques learned in Intermediate Team. Climbers will learn more advanced movement that comes with more difficult climbing.  Climbers will begin to learn ways to self-coach outside of team practice to reach the their self-set goals.  All in all, Advanced Team takes climbers to the next level by helping them become independent, self-driven climbers. Advanced Team athletes are required to participate in Boulders hosted Climbing competitions (up to 2 per year).

Competitive Team

Tuesday 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Downtown

Friday 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Eastside

Sunday 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm, Downtown

Competitive Team works with all other Base practice teams (Bedrock/Intermediate/Advanced) toward many of the same goals. Climbers utilize training tools at BOTH BCG facilities to maximize progress toward successfully competing in USA-Climbing events.

Comp Athletes are trained to excel in competition-style climbing through the pursuit of physical, mental, and emotional development that recognizes youth as holistic individuals. Through a fine-tuned balance of high expectations and flexible adjustments, Comp Team Coaches prepare athletes for healthy, fun, and successful USAC experiences (and a lifelong relationship with climbing!).

Competitive Team athletes are required to participate in USA Climbing competition, with the intention of qualifying for Regional Championship and beyond.
